Parents under Pressure (PUP) is an innovative, new evidenced based programme which originated in Australia and is designed for use with parents with younger children who are experiencing multiple and complex problems including; parental alcohol; substance misuse; mental health; family conflict and extreme neglect.

We are looking for practitioners with significant experience of working effectively with parents and families who have complex and challenging multiple problems. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience in delivering family based behavioural interventions.

PUP Practitioners will not hold case responsibility and caseloads will be limited to 4-5 families. Practitioners will work alongside an allocated social worker and other professionals to support parents who are facing adversity to develop positive and secure relationships with their children, address drug and alcohol issues and reduce the number of children who are subject to Child in Need/Child Protection plans or become Looked After.

You will ideally have a post-graduate qualification in psychology, social work, counselling or an equivalent professional qualification from a relevant field of child/adolescent or adult/parenting practice. Applicants with a related undergraduate degree and significant relevant professional experience will also be considered.

Specialist training will be provided.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.
